Membership FAQs:

1. I don’t want to be a member this year (or: I don’t know if I want to be a member
yet).
Perfectly understood! You can just ignore the form (though it would help us if you let us know). Again, please let us know if you want us to contact you for marketing purposes.
If you change your mind about membership, you can complete and return the form at that point. And if you can't lay your hands on it, get in touch and we'll resend the form.

2. I want to renew. What do I have to do?
Fill in the form, sign and date, including the sections on Gift Aid and GDPR as far as applicable - and return it to us. Then pay the membership fee.

3. Do you need the original or will a photocopy do? Or can I email a scan?
Any of these is fine, so long as it's signed and dated.

4. Can I fill in the form online?
No, the online form is for download only - it's not connected to any fancy back
end database. And we do need your physical signature.

5. The form says the membership year is from 1 Aug 2026 to 31 Jul 2027.
Am I a member right now?
This gets formal. We are treating last year's members as “presumed members” right now. If you let us know you don't want to be a member, we'll take you off the list. If you sign and return the form, we'll remove "presumed" and you will be a “member”.

6. How long do I get to decide whether to renew or not?
We'd like to do the paperwork as soon as practical, but recognise that people have busy lives, not least over the summer. But if we haven't heard from you by the time business begins again in October, we'll take you off the list.

7. When do I have to pay the membership fee?
It's payable immediately, but we aren't going to press you during the summer lull. But when we start meeting again, we'll start nagging.

8. How can I pay?
We'd prefer a bank transfer, if you are comfortable with online banking. If this is you, it would be very helpful to do this straight away, so that our hard-working Treasurer can concentrate on singing at rehearsals.
We can also accept card payments, cheques, or cash. We will ensure our card machine is available at most meetings.

9. Can I pay my membership fee at the same time as my audition or performance
fee?
Yes. You can join at any point in the year, if you want to participate in a particular show and aren't already a member.
